Piano Lessons
Learning to play the piano is about so much more than learning the right notes. It's an opportunity to develop creativity, problem-solving skills, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
At Bethany Turpin Music Studio, piano lessons are designed to help children build strong musical foundations in a supportive, encouraging environment. Through creative activities, games, and engaging repertoire, students learn the skills they need while discovering the joy of making music.
Whether your child is completely new to piano or has already started their musical journey, lessons are tailored to meet them where they are and help them grow with confidence.
What students learn
Every student learns differently, and lessons are adapted to their age, experience, and interests. Along the way, students develop skills such as:
Reading music
Healthy playing habits and good technique
Rhythm and steady beat
Musical expression and creativity
Listening and ear training
Practice strategies that build independence
Music theory integrated naturally into lessons
As students gain confidence, they're encouraged to make musical choices, solve problems, and develop their own understanding of how music works—not simply memorize pieces.
Learning through curiosity
Children learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process.
Rather than focusing only on repetition, lessons include games, movement, improvisation, listening activities, and creative challenges that help musical concepts come to life. Students build real skills while staying engaged and curious about what they're learning.
Every lesson balances structure with flexibility, providing clear goals while making space for exploration, questions, and creativity.
Where to start
Piano Lessons always start with a Trial Lesson. Once we meet and decide that this is a match made in musical heaven, you have some options!
If you want regular weekly lessons, access to studio events, and all your materials included, you’ll go the Tuition route. This means you pay one flat fee for the whole term and it covers everything you could hope to need. Sheet music, theory books, flexible lesson cancellation, recitals, events… everything!
If you want lessons, but not every week, you can book Drop-In lessons with me! I’ll send you a perennial link and you simply book lessons when you want them! Easy! Drop-in lessons are flexible to book and very convenient, but not flexible to cancel, and they do not include sheet music, or the other goodies that Tuition covers.
Book a Trial Lesson!
Trial Lessons are a chance for us to meet, chat, make music, and see if we jive! Here's how it goes:
First, we chat about your goals. Why do you want music lessons? What are you hoping to learn? What do you want to be different?
Then, we sing/play and do music stuff. While you're singing/tickling the ivories, I'm assessing technique, alignment, confidence, and diction. Nerd stuff.
To wrap it all up, we plan next steps. What would work best for you? Tuition? Drop-in? Never seeing me again? I'll make some suggestions based on our time together. You go home, think it over, and let me know what works best!
